Toddler Outdoor Classroom (late spring-early fall) During the warmer months a canopied area on the left side of the toddler playground is created as a Toddler Outdoor Classroom. Under this canopy, a similar environment is set up to the indoor classroom. Centers are created, and outdoor toddler furniture is provided. A sensory table or art table may be set up. Materials that were previously used indoors may find a different or similar purpose outdoors. Toddlers continue to be engaged in developmentally appropriate opportunities for exploration and learning. Just outside of this area water play with a sensory table and/or sprinklers might be provided (summer months). There are also opportunities to just sit and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature around us. These observations foster important conversations in our Toddler Outdoor Classroom.
